CHIPPER AND CONCRETE PUMP TRAILERS ETC
Specialist trailers require specialised braking systems.
Many commercial trailers have electric brake hubs installed. These can be controlled by a wired system like the REDARC Tow Pro Elite or a wireless system like the Elecbrakes.
Keep in mind that if the trailer gross weight is over 2500kgs then a break away system must also be used. This requires a battery mounted on the trailer to power the brakes if the trailer breaks away from the to vehicle. This battery will then need a power supply from the tow vehicle to keep it charged. If this is the case then the benefits of a wireless controller are lost and you may be better off with a wired system.
But if you have a charging system on the trailer already then a wireless system can be a better option, especially if you intend to tow it with multiple vehicles.
Trailers that have motors installed for chippers or pumps can use the motors battery for the breakaway system as can trailers that have sola panels charging a battery.
If the trailer has hydraulic brakes then a electric over hydraulic brake actuator needs to be used such as the ALKO Sensabrake, Dexter or Brakerite units. These should all be powered by the tow vehicle so a wired controller makes the most sense.
